The TCL Smart Portable Air Conditioner outshines traditional window units

It’s hot and uncomfortable. My shirt is sticking to my back, and there doesn’t seem to be any end to the humidity in the forecast. Sure, Minnesota is typically known for its freezing cold temps in winter, but the summer still likes to settle in the 80’s and 90’s. And like any good dad would say, “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity that gets you.” What makes it worse is I don’t have central Air Conditioning in my Home. Drive by on a typical summer’s day, and you will see a few nasty looking window A/C units drooping their unsightly bodies outside of several windows. Honestly, I hate them. TCL is kind enough to let me test out one of their new Portable AC units. The difference is instantly noticeable.

As I test of the smaller 5,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, I’m immediately impressed. The outside of my house looks presentable again. The temperature in my living room is comfortable again. On a day where my thermostat is reading at 83 degrees, I see the temperature drop to 74 within about 45 minutes. Scorching summer days where I normally hide out to work in my basement to stay cool are coming to an end. Life is good.

Perhaps the best part of TCL’s Smart Portable AC is the ease of use. Setup takes minimal effort, and the heat exhaust takes up just a few inches in the window. I can place the exhaust plate in a vertical or horizontal window. It is barely noticeable from the outside of the home. When temps are alright outside, I can turn the unit to operate as a fan. What’s more, is I can use it as a dehumidifier as well.

TCL’s Smart Portable Air Conditioner offers features I’ve desired for years. First, I can connect it to my wi-fi. This is a big deal. Here’s why. As a Smart AC, I can turn it on when I’m not home. That’s right. I can hop into the TCL app (or use Alexa/Google Assistant) to start or stop the device when I’m gone. Thankfully, when I’m traveling, and I know it will be hot when I get home, I can have the unit start before I get there. It’s awesome to walk into a cool house instead of a furnace on a hot summer day. Likewise, if I accidentally leave it running, I can shut it down remotely too. What a relief! Additionally, I can adjust the fan speed and thermostat too.

When I’m heading to the lake cabin which also does not have air conditioning, I no longer have to lug a giant window unit. I simply role TCL’s Smart Portable Air Conditioner up to my car and use the convenient handles to load it. Oh, I should mention – you likely won’t need a drain hose for condensation. The unit evaporates water on its own. TCL includes one just in case, but after several weeks of use, I’ve never needed it.

I’m in love with this thing, and at some point, I’ll be considering an 8,000 – 10,000 BTU unit to perhaps cover a larger space. The 5,000 BTU Portable AC covers 150 sq. ft. perfectly. I can’t say enough about how easy it is to move this thing around. I HATE moving window units. There is nothing worse than worrying about the damage they can do to window frames or a window itself. I’ll never intentionally purchase a window unit again after using TCL’s option.

If you are looking to purchase air conditioning, please don’t get a window unit. They’re hideous, bulky, and a pain the butt to move in and out of windows without damaging the frame. TCL’s Smart Portable Air Conditioner makes a world of a difference. For those who need cool air, it’s a game changer. Ease of use, combined with Smart capabilities and the way it blasts cold air into unbearable rooms make it a must have.
