Integrative AI and handsfree with Lucyd’s chatGPT powered eyewear

Lucyd Eyewear is a Miami-based startup that has developed the world’s first pair of “smart” glasses that play music, take phone calls and connect to ChatGPT. My Lucyd Lyte JupiterXL frames (an aviator style) currently retail for $232 USD.

The glasses feature built-in Bluetooth speakers that allow users to ask questions of the AI chatbot through the free Lucyd app (iOS/Android). Small buttons on the glasses’ arms enable users to trigger ChatGPT, take calls and play music. To get a true hands-free ChatGPT experience, you’ll need to add Lucyd as a shortcut and tell your voice assistant to connect to the Lucyd app.

I found my glasses to be very handy while going about my day. It was great to be able to talk on the phone, listen to music and transition from my laptop to the car without having to switch audio sources or wear my airpods. I did notice some curious looks as I spoke to friends and colleagues in crowded areas. It’s also worth noting that there is some audio leakage as the glasses are not bone conduction. I learned this the hard way when I listened to an audio message during church and noticed a few heads turning.

Innovative Eyewear claims to be the first company to provide ChatGPT-enabled smart glasses, which it debuted last year. The local tech company sells sunglasses and prescription glasses under its Lucyd Smart Eyewear brand, and it has also partnered with Nautica and Eddie Bauer. Miami Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah is a brand ambassador.

During my testing, I found that sound quality was good, even when walking along busy roads. I did notice a lack of bass or lower end frequencies, but this isn’t a dealbreaker because that isn’t the prime function of the glasses. Because my ears weren’t covered by headphones, I could still hear passing cars or carry on a conversation with someone in the room. The quality of the AI chatbot was not entirely reliable, but it did draft me several emails and lay out a book project that I had been putting off.

Battery life is typically 12 hours and the glasses are charged via an included charging cable. Lucyd also offers a dock to make charging a little more convenient, but I was happy with the included cable.

Lucyd Smart glasses are a great luxury gadget that offer a glimpse into the future of wearable technology. They are especially useful for runners and bicyclists who want to hear passing cars or professionals who want to seamlessly integrate ChatGPT into their daily workflow. While the glasses are not perfect and have a few  limitations, They are a great bleeding edge experience into a market that is sure to absolutely explode over the next few years.

In conclusion, Lucyd Smart Eyewear is a promising startup that has developed a unique product that combines optics, audio and AI into one. If you’re looking for a unique and fun gadget that offers a glimpse into the future of wearable technology, Lucyd Smart Eyewear is definitely worth considering.
