This Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is your perfect Netflix companion

You know there is something special about the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x at first glance.

After unpacking the 14.5-inch laptop and glancing at the screen, I could tell it had more in common with a Samsung OLED television than a business laptop you use only for spreadsheets. The OLED screen on the Yoga Slim 7x is crystal clear, running at 3000 x 2000 pixels. It’s a touchscreen display, and my first inclination had nothing to do with Excel or Google Docs, even those two apps seem to be running constantly on the laptop I own.

I immediately fired up Netflix.com and watched a few scenes from the Rebel Moon movies. Now, I’ve mentioned them before as being not that awesome in terms of character development, but they are a great way to test a laptop with an OLED screen because the vibrancy and color really come alive and (almost) make the movies more bearable.

I like the clear audio on the Yoga 7x as well, even if I immediately switched to headphones to hear the movie better in a crowded coffee shop.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x screen

The Yoga Slim 7x extends the screen almost to the very edges of the bezel, reminding me of some recent Dell laptops that do the same thing. But the OLED screen is remarkable and worth considering purely for the entertainment value for movies and shows.

The screen runs as high as 1000 nits which once again reminded me of a high-end television — not the cheap $500 models you can buy at Target, but the best OLED models from Samsung and LG. The Slim 7x has 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD drive to keep things speedy.

I tested a model with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and I can see why people are talking so much about the new age of processors and how INtel doesn’t quite have the same grip on the market as before. I tested plenty of Photoshop and Lightroom editing chores with thousands of photos, finding that the speed is more than capable of keeping up with my media needs. Imports, edit, and exports all flashed by quickly without any slowdowns.

Extras Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x features

Another important feature to mention here is that this is a next-gen machine that can run Microsoft Copilot without any problems. I tested out several queries including a few image related prompts and felt like the Slim 7x was more than nimble enough for AI work. My test laptop weighs only 2.8-pounds. It was light enough that, when I went to send the unit back, I had to double check that it was actually in the box and all packed and ready.

This model has a USB-C port and a USB-A port. Battery life is rated at about 22 hours and I had no problems using it for a few days before even thinking about recharging. I would say it lasted even longer than my phone but that is mostly because I rely on my phone all day long.

I did go back to Google Docs eventually, but my main takeaway is that this bright and vibrant screen is really a major enhancement for those who like to watch movies on their laptop. You can still get plenty of work done, but when the day is over, Netflix is a click away.
