Your MacBook isn’t pro until you buy this dock

If Satechi is a brand you do not know about you should start paying attention. Founded in 2005, with their headquarters in San Diego, their passion for sleek affordable tech products and accessories has not wavered. Recently I have been using Satechi’s Thunderbolt 4 Dock. This thing really knows how to take a workplace to the next level.

My setup runs off of a Macbook Pro. I run two 4k monitors which take up two of the thunderbolt 4 ports right off the bat. Because of this, I was only left with two ports until I plugged in the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 dock. Now I never have to worry about the lack of ports.

The Thunderbolt 4 Dock includes a plethora of ports: three Thunderbolt 4, four USB-A (Mind you, three are data and one is for charging), UHS-II Card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack port. The port I was most pleasantly shocked to see is a Gigabit Ethernet port. As a creator who is constantly downloading and uploading, having a direct connection to the internet on my Macbook Pro is the chef’s kiss. I also enjoy the fact I can plug in my headphones via the dock audio jack while keeping my speakers plugged into the Macbook Pro. It is a small thing, but I take great solace in that.

With all of this power, the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Dock is pretty large. Satechi makes great adapters that are smaller and designed for users who only need a couple of additional ports. This dock is designed for pro users. Those who have a desk set up and do not plan on throwing it in a bag every day.  The dock is 19.5 x 8.5 x 3 cm weighing in at 422 grams. The build quality is top-notch, the brushed aluminum has a classic tech look and feels that should stand the test of time. Right on the top is the simple and subtle Satechi logo which adds a nice touch of branding without feeling like it is overbearing. On the bottom, Satechi was smart with the design and added 4 rubber feet pieces so that the dock won’t move around on whatever surface you are using.

Remember when I say the quality of this dock is top tier. With that top-tier quality comes a top-tier price before you can own one. The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Dock comes in at $300.00 US dollars. While I do believe that is steep for a dock, when holding and reviewing the product, I somewhat understand where the price is justified. Unfortunately, I think a lot of individuals will take a look at the price and simply move on.

The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Dock is a staple in my setup. The ports allow me to use anything I want while minimizing my desk clutter. It is a dock that looks like it belongs in my set up and it will for a long time coming.
