I love technology. I love being prepared. This adds up to quite a few gadgets in my everyday carry. This includes my Apple iPhone XS Max, AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPad Pro that travel with me just about everywhere I go. I love knowing I’m prepared for anything, even if I’m headed to a coffee shop. My average day consists of meetings, working on projects in the music app Ableton, the video app Final Cut, or other creative platforms. I spend a good amount of time headed from place to place. What can I say. I’m a Gearadical.
If I’ve learned anything by carrying these gadgets, it’s that no matter the brand, the model or the promoted battery life, they die at the most inopportune times.
That’s why I like the back-up battery product so much. After using it for a couple of weeks now, I’m hooked. I was able to add a whopping 42 hours of battery life to my iPhone XS Max by using the backup battery to recharge multiple times.
I find myself relying on my phone and other devices throughout most of the workday. From constant work, to scrolling my social feeds, to FaceTiming my wife and son, I am on my phone a lot. I need a device that keeps up with my constant demands and heavy battery use. For me, this was the clear choice as a portable charger. Did I mention the 42 hours of charging?
Overall, it’s a cool appliance. The sleek device fit in my pocket nicely. It also has a lightning port for faster charge-ups. Plus there’s a USB-A port (the bigger one that’s on the other end of lightning ports). This gives me a ton of options for all of my gadgets.
Some days the gear I take with me is pretty minimalist, other days I bring a random selection. It’s a little unpredictable. In both cases, the Mophie Powerstation XL Wireless helped me stay charged up. At just about a half a pound, with a high gloss finish, this device is quite beautiful. While some portable chargers are big and heavy, the Mophie Powerstation XL Wireless barely adds weight to my everyday carry, no matter what that may contain.
At $100, the Mophie Powerstation XL Wireless is slightly more expensive than other brands with similar battery capacities. However, this was the price I was willing to pay for the quality and features. I’ve always been one to have a “backup” portable battery, but due to the slow recharging speed, cumbersome build, or added weight, I found myself carrying it around daily without actually using it. Now, I’ve lost track of how many times I have gone to recharge and have chosen my Mophie Powerstation XL Wireless over plugging in via my stock charger. The charging speed is incredible, and is way too convenient to ignore!
The utility of the charging capabilities of this device still blows my mind every time I use it. All at once, I can charge my iPhone via wireless charging by setting it on top, my AirPods via the built-in lightning cable, and my Apple Watch via the USB A port. All plugged into the wall using only my iPhone lighting charger. It’s nothing short of a gadget miracle.
I am constantly on the lookout for new tech, better tech, and more efficient gadgets. It’s just a part of who I am. In the time I have had this Mophie wireless charger, I’ve stopped looking to replace it. I’ve stopped looking to see if it is the best option for my scenario, because of one simple fact: it’s just that good.
