This is a very embarrassing story. I recently went to the dentist for the first time in… Well, I won’t actually say how long. But trust me, my appointment was overdue. Life suddenly happens and becomes so busy. Besides, who likes going to the dentist?
Well funny enough, I can now say I’m friends with my dental assistant. (He invited me to brunch with his girlfriend since we had so much in common, but that’s besides the point.) I realized I need to start taking my mouth and gum health more seriously. You only have one set of teeth (hopefully) so it’s important to prioritize taking care of them.
My dentist recommended I start using an electric toothbrush. I found the AquaSonic Black Series Ultra Whitening Electric Toothbrush and it works wonderfully. It runs on an automatic timer that buzzes every thirty seconds to let you know when to change which area of your mouth you’re cleaning. It keeps me on track and I can tell it does a better job protecting my gums than I could ever do with my regular toothbrush.
The chic packaging and black aesthetic makes it not super noticeable in my bathroom (which I love). The popular competitor that people have is a white color that really stands out (plus it’s the same as everyone else). I really like that the AquaSonic looks so different, more modern.
When I first tried the AquaSonic, I immediately noticed that the brush itself was much smaller than my other toothbrush. I didn’t know what to think about this at first, but now that I’ve been using it, I can totally see why this is helpful – I can reach the very back of my mouth where my wisdom teeth are, actually cleaning them instead of barely scrubbing the corners.
The bristles are also really soft, which I appreciate because it protects the tooth’s enamel. The toothbrush also comes with instructions outlining the angle you should aim for as you clean your teeth. When my mom started doing this with her electric toothbrush, she actually reversed her gum disease and now has a perfectly healthy mouth.
The AquaSonic stands up on the charger which I keep plugged in. My electric toothbrush came with eight brush-heads, which is more than most other electric toothbrushes on the market. I like how easy it is to remove the head – it simply clicks off or on.
When I was doing research to find out if using an electric toothbrush is worth it, I came across several articles with studies of people who use an electric toothbrush versus those who do not. To little surprise, those who do have an easier time keeping a healthy mouth.
I only wish I started using the AquaSonic electric toothbrush earlier. Maybe a couple cavities could’ve been avoided. On the bright side, the AquaSonic is doing a great job cleaning my teeth and now I’ve got a new friend in the neighborhood. Did I mention brunch with my dental assistant? Makes me smile (a cleaner one).
