Does Sea Witch Botanicals soap actually clean well?

I’m a clean freak — there’s no way around it. I compulsively tidy the house to the point where my husband will say, “don’t put that away, I’m still using it”, if I pick up something of his that’s lying out on the counter. We also keep an Asian household by not wearing our shoes past the entryway; this helps keep dirt and germs off our floors.

In addition to tidying up constantly, I like to use cleaning products with natural ingredients. So Sea Witch Botanicals is a perfect match for me – satisfying my need for cleanliness while also being green.

Sea Witch Botanicals is a small family business based out of Bellingham, Washington. Their mission is to “keep the world’s water healthy by providing natural home and body products that are good for you and the environment.” Their product range includes candles, incense, cosmetics, face products, home cleaning essentials, fragrances, reusable bags, and coffee.

I received their Produce Wash and Canary Clean all-purpose natural cleaning soap bar duo in the mail. They came bundled in a recyclable box with no plastic – which is great for those who recycle or who live a zero-waste lifestyle.

I often like to rinse my fruits and vegetables before cooking or consuming them, so I was especially excited to use the produce wash soap bar. It had a pleasant smell and I felt it cleaned my veggies well – they were literally “squeaky clean” after rinsing them. Although, I think I used too much soap the first time and didn’t rinse with enough water. The veggies turned out tasting slightly soapy. Chalk it up to user error on my end, because the second time around the veggies tasted just fine! I now use a small crochet-knit towel to gently wipe the veggies instead of rubbing the soap directly on them – this works out much better.

Now onto the Canary Clean kitchen cleaner. I wipe down my kitchen counter fairly often, if not on a daily basis — since COVID-19 is still happening, this routine is especially important. I use a crochet knit towel (not the same one I use for the veggies) and rub the soap bar until there’s sufficient suds for cleaning the counter. After scrubbing the counter down with the cloth, I go back over it with a different towel that is damp to wipe up any lingering soap suds. My counter has never been so clean or smelled so good. The soap bar has a slight citrus scent, which I thought was lemony until I looked up the ingredients on the website (seawitchbotanicals.com) and saw that one of the main ingredients is orange essential oil. Not only can this bar clean kitchen counters, but also dishes, pots & pans, and counter surfaces throughout the house.

These two soap bars are my new favorite cleaning products. I love knowing that my kitchen and food can get a thorough cleaning while at the same time being environmentally friendly and lessening my carbon footprint. I will definitely be going back to buy more products from Sea Witch Botanicals.
