I think this may be something that comes with age, but I’m a hot sleeper. This has not always been the case. I live in Minnesota, and in the winter I turn my heat down to 65 degrees at night while the temps outside hit far below zero. Often, I still wake up sweating. In large part I think this may be due to the type of mattress I have. Nonetheless, my wife and I went in search of a lighter comforter to help us get better sleep. Thank goodness we came across the Cozy Earth Bamboo Comforter.
First Glance
At Gearadical, I tend to review a lot of tech, and I always find myself fascinated by how companies decide to package products. Some companies choose a fancy approach and deliver well (Amazon Echo Studio, Vitamix Ascent, Rokid), others take a simple approach (Meater). Cozy Earth, as a non-tech company falls in to the former. I’m impressed. The bamboo comforter comes in a reusable bag that doesn’t feel like a cheap gimmick. It’s actually a duffle that I will use to pack clothes in for trips when opportunities arrive.
The “duffle” contains the comforter within. When I open it, my mind conjures images of walking into a freshly cleaned hotel room. For me this is always a feeling of relief. The long day of travel is over, and I can relax. The brilliant white comforter is silky to the touch and made from 100% Bamboo Viscose. It is lightweight and thinner than expected but still high quality. I spread the King size option onto my bed, and it fits like a glove. It even has anchor loops for a duvet cover.
Beauty Rest
Testing the Cozy Earth Bamboo Comforter itself is easy. I simply try to sleep and see if I wake up a sweaty mess like I did with my previous down comforter. As mentioned above, the comforter is thinner than I anticipated. The lightweight Viscose material makes me wonder if I will be shivering in the night. My concerns are quickly squashed after a few nights. Sleep indeed comes and I wake up hours later than usual. I look over, and my wife is still out. This rarely happens, but it happens with more frequency than ever. The only change is this comforter.
Sincerely, the Cozy Earth bamboo comforter changes how we sleep – particularly now that it is summer. I prefer a freezing house and warm blankets, and this blanket makes it the perfect temp for getting that deep much needed rest after a long day. My only minor complaint is the “silky” slippery outer material. When I first saw it, I was concerned because it gives off a minor “sheen” in daylight, and by simple preference I tend to choose less flashy looking items in my home. I can relax though, once I put it on the bed this concern was gone. It looks great regardless, and my duvet covers it anyways.
Bottom Line
The Cozy Earth Bamboo Comforter is a welcome reprieve to our home. It feels the perfect temperature and weight for great rest. The viscose material is soft and pleasant to lay on or under, and I won’t be switching away from it for a long time. My initial skepticism of sleeping on bamboo stalks is abated. Count me in as a new Cozy Earth fan.
