The Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater: Where affordability meets quality

As someone who routinely collects gray sweaters, the Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater caught my eye right away. Sweaters in general are definitely a go-to for me. They allow me to feel both comfortable and presentable in most environments. I’ve definitely had more than my fair share of sweaters in my lifetime, most of them beginning to look faded and shapeless. The Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck came at the perfect time for a closet refresh.

First impressions

The very first thing you will notice about your Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater is the incredible softness of the material. As I wore my sweater throughout the day, I couldn’t help but notice the comfort and plushness of the fabric.

As someone who has historically frequented large-scale or fast fashion establishments for my basic sweaters, I could immediately feel the difference in quality. Not only can you tell the difference in the way it feels, it also has a cleaner look. The quality of production and stitching creates an even more elevated and polished appearance.

For me personally, I felt that it went best with my favorite high waisted jeans, french-tucked in the front. I paired it with my favorite fall shoes – Blundstone’s Chelsea Boots and finished off the look by adding in some gold accessories.

Care and Longevity

Taking care of cashmere is definitely something new for me. This sweater is maintained by  hand washing with cold water and being laid out flat to dry. While this requires slightly more effort than throwing it in the wash, the material makes up for it by needing less washes than your average cotton sweater. Because Mongolian cashmere is so breathable, it only needs to be washed every 5-6 wears. Just use a cashmere sweater spray and let it air out before hanging it back up in your closet.

Additionally, I like that I can get more wear out of this product. Per Quince’s website, Mongolian cashmere is known for its long lasting durability. Even better, it gets softer over time.

Price and Quality

The Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck has an unbeatable price at $50. Quince’s website claims that most cashmere sweaters with comparable quality are typically priced at over $100. They share that they’ve been able to cut prices back by removing all unnecessary costs in production and shipping directly from their factory partners, cutting prices by 50-70%. Given both the reduced price and durable material, its price-per-wear suggests that it’s definitely an affordable option.

As seen in the name, the crewneck is made out of 100% grade A Mongolian Cashmere. It features both ribbed cuffs and hem and is rated high on their softness gauge. The fabric will keep you warm in cool weather and is yet still breathable to wear in warmer temps. I also love that the material is 3x as warm as wool, perfect for layering from Fall to Winter.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater has been a much needed addition to my wardrobe. It came at the perfect time. I was able to test it out just as the temperature began to dip below 60 degrees and it made for the coziest outfit. What I like most about this product is that it feels like an upgraded basic and does not come at an outrageous cost. While it does require a bit more care to maintain (like any cashmere sweater), it pays off when you consider the long lifetime of this sweater.  If you are looking for a more elevated, affordable, and classic option, the Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater might be the right pick for you.
